C&C journey began in 1976 at Brooklyn Jewish Hospital. We were kindred spirits, both driven by the need to do lots of things. Our spouses got to know each other as the 4 of us attended dinners, plays, concerts, and events together. Our friendships grew and became a staple in our lives.
Through the decades, we knew and supported each others joys, successes, business ventures, family stories, travels, and tragedies.
As fate would have it, Courtney became a widower first. My spouse and I could not be there physically but provided support and concern from a distance. Courtney experienced the loss of his sister, and my husband and I were there to comfort. A couple of months later, it was my turn for spousal loss. Fate would have it, that my friend, Courtney, could not be there in person to support.
A few months passed, and we got together for a meal and to share our woes. Then we shared a meal and a concert. The time spent together was very easy and stress free. We found that when spending time together, we could smile again. So many people and memories were easily shared between us. There were no challenges, or suspicions between us. As to why our interest existed, we were friends. We began to evaluate each other and wondered if….I would ask, “where did you come from”? and play the song, “Nobody Supposed To Be Here”, but the boxes were checked. We had surprisingly found a whole new world, with love, laughter, fun, and a desire to embark on this new journey together.
